Collection of Fluorescent Minerals and Rocks

This section consists of a completely dark room where the special lighting is such that it causes fluorescence or phosphorescence in the minerals and rocks.

The collection has been classified according to the color produced in them by the phenomenon of luminescence, which is the ability of the crystals of the minerals to absorb ultraviolet radiation and re-emit a portion of it as visible. If the luminescence lasts as long as the irradiation lasts, then the phenomenon is called fluorescence (also if it continues after it has ceased), then the phenomenon is called phosphorescence. The module enables visitors to experience one of the most impressive phenomena of minerals and rocks.
